Our Christie Drive duplex is one example of how site conditions can shape a residential project. The hillside property required careful planning for a long, sweeping driveway and site drainage. Working with the owner’s civil and structural engineers, we helped develop a contemporary two-unit residence with floating staircases, elevators, wine rooms, and recessed hot tubs built into the exterior decks.
The project brought together some interesting architectural and engineering challenges, particularly where the building, decks, and driveway meet the hillside.
